‘বিশ্ব পর্যটন দিবস’ উদ্যাপন উপলক্ষে জাতীয় কর্মসূচী হিসেবে বাংলাদেশ পর্যটন বোর্ড আয়োজিত এক র্যালি আজ ২৭ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০১৬ মঙ্গলবার মৎস্য ভবন প্রাঙ্গণ থেকে শুরু হয়ে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় টিএসসি অঙ্গণে এসে শেষ হয়। রাজু ভাস্কর্যের পাদদেশে র্যালি পরবর্তী সমাবেশে পর্যটন বর্ষের আয়োজনের আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন করেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. আ আ ম স আরেফিন সিদ্দিক। এ সময় আরও উপস্থিত ছিলেন প্রো-উপাচার্য (প্রশাসন) অধ্যাপক ড. মো. আখতারুজ্জামান , কোষাধ্যক্ষ অধ্যাপক ড. মো. কামাল উদ্দীন, বাংলাদেশ পর্যটন বোর্ডের প্রধান নির্বাহী আখতারুজ্জামান খান কবির প্রমুখ।
র্যালি শেষে উক্ত সমাবেশে উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. আ আ ম স আরেফিন সিদ্দিক বলেন, এবারের প্রতিপাদ্য ‘সবার জন্য পর্যটন’। প্রতিপাদ্যকে যথার্থ করতে ধনী-দরিদ্র সবার জন্য পর্যটন উন্মুক্ত করার আহŸান জানাচ্ছি। একইসঙ্গে তিনি সবার কথা চিন্তা করে পর্যটন নীতিমালা সর্বজনীনভাবে যাতে হয় সেই আহŸান জানান। যাতে যারা দরিদ্র তারাও যেন পর্যটনে অংশ নিতে পারে। আর্থিকভাবে যাতে তাদের কোন বাধা বা প্রতিবন্ধকতা না থাকে।
র্যালিতে রাজধানীর মৎস্য ভবন থেকে বেসামরিক বিমান পরিবহণ ও পর্যটন মন্ত্রণালয়, পর্যটন কর্পোরেশন, পুলিশসহ সরকারি-বেসরকারি কয়েকটি সংগঠন নিজ নিজ ব্যানার, ফেস্টুন সহকারে অংশগ্রহণ করে।
এর আগে বিশ্ব পর্যটন দিবস-২০১৬ উপলক্ষে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ট্যুরিজম এন্ড হসপিটালিটি ম্যানেজমেন্ট বিভাগের উদ্যোগে “সকলের জন্য পর্যটন: সর্বজনীন পর্যটনের অভিগম্যতা” শীর্ষক প্রতিপাদ্য নিয়ে এক র্যালি অপরাজেয় বাংলার পাদদেশে উদ্বোধন করেন উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক ড. আ আ ম স আরেফিন সিদ্দিক। উপাচার্যের নেতৃত্বে র্যালিটি ক্যাম্পাস প্রদক্ষিণ করে টিএসসি প্রাঙ্গণে গিয়ে শেষ হয়। র্যালিতে বিভাগের বিপুল সংখ্যক শিক্ষক ও ছাত্র-ছাত্রী অংশগ্রহণ করেন।
উল্লেখ্য, জাতিসংঘের বিশ্ব পর্যটন সংস্থার উদ্যোগে ১৯৮০ সাল থেকে প্রতিবছর ২৭ সেপ্টেম্বর এই দিবসটি পালন করা হয়ে থাকে। এ দিবসের উদ্দেশ্য হলো আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে বিভিন্ন দেশে ভ্রমণকারীদের সঙ্গে পর্যটন কেন্দ্রের সেতুবন্ধন তৈরি করা। পর্যটন সম্পর্কে জনসচেতনতা সৃষ্টি করে পর্যটনে সামাজিক, সাংস্কৃতিক, রাজনৈতিক ও অর্থনৈতিক উপযোগিতা সৃষ্টি করা।
